Windows PCs and Macs can be convenient for testing a subscription before setting up a TV device. Use a current operating system and a stable browser or player app.

Computer setup checklist

  1. Install a trusted, compatible player for your operating system.
  2. Choose the correct login method in the player.
  3. Paste account details without changing the URL or adding spaces.
  4. Test a few content categories and check audio output.

If video does not play

Close other bandwidth-heavy applications, restart the player and test your internet connection. If you see a blank player, use our black-screen troubleshooting guide.

Choose the player for the way you watch

A desktop media player can be useful for testing a playlist, while a dedicated IPTV application may offer more convenient favourites and programme-guide navigation. Verify that your chosen app supports your operating system and the account format supplied by support. Download installers from the publisher's official website or the operating system's app store.

Open a playlist or network URL

In a compatible player, look for the command to open a network stream, URL or playlist. Paste the complete link supplied for your account. If you received an M3U file, use the player's file-open command instead. A three-field account login requires an app that supports that method; it cannot always be pasted into a single URL field. See M3U versus Xtream Codes for the distinction.

Test under repeatable conditions

  1. Stop playback on other devices if your account has one device.
  2. Close large downloads and cloud backup transfers temporarily.
  3. Try one channel, then a second channel, keeping the same app and network.
  4. Note whether the failure is at import, playback start or after several minutes.

A successful desktop test can help narrow a television problem, but it is not proof that every other device is compatible. Different players may support different video formats. If the library loads and there is sound but no picture, use the black screen diagnosis.

Keep account files private

Playlist files and URLs may contain account credentials. Store them in a private folder, avoid public file-sharing links and remove them before sharing diagnostic logs. Contact support through the support page with your operating system, player version and a redacted error message. Do not disable the computer's firewall or antivirus as a general setup step.

Check your setup before choosing a plan

Confirm your device and priority channels with support, then test your own connection.
